Background

Who he is

A Long Beach native, Coach Myles Berniard-Mendez played college ball in West Los Angeles before his talent took him to Florida, where his playing career was based. A former semi-pro with 20+ years in the game and six years of private coaching, he is also the head coach of the 13U Los Alamitos Bombers. He coaches players ages 8–18 across Long Beach and Orange County.

Lessons run 30 or 60 minutes and follow the same rhythm: a check-in on recent games and practices, a warm-up, focused skill work, game-situation reps, then a review with drills to work on before the next session. A 60-minute session includes a slow-motion video clip with feedback.

What parents say

“I can’t say enough good things about Coach Myles. My son picked up baseball late, and he needed support catching up to his peers. My son went from never throwing a baseball to being able to play catch with his peers, pitching, starting game-changing rallies for his team, and making big catches for the team. What u really appreciate is that Myles sees each individual kid and tweaks what is already working (or not), rather than having a “my way or the highway” approach. This helped my son have buy-in and see both quick results and a goal to work towards. My son not only learned the mechanics of the sport with coach, but now understands the strategy behind the game and important plays, and, most importantly, LOVES the sport.”

“Coach Myles has really helped my 14-year old son become a better pitcher. He’s encouraging, professional and knowledgeable. He has given my son skills to add velocity, correct technique and has boosted my son’s overall confidence. We appreciate everything he has done for us!”

“I signed up my 10 year old for some pitching and hitting lessons from coach Miles. Wasn't sure what to expect since it's our first time having a private coach, but he exceeded our expectations! His words are very encouraging which helped a lot with my son's confidence. I started with a 10 lessons package and I can definitely say my son improved greatly toward the end compared to when he had the first free lesson with coach Miles. I highly recommend him if you're looking for a great personal coach!”
